About Beautifully Chronic
Beautifully Chronic is a blog devoted to helping those with chronic conditions find solutions to the many unique problems that come with having a chronic illness. I have a variety of conditions including but not limited to Crohn's, Psoriasis, and Takayasu's Arteritis, and between the effects of those conditions and the side effects of the countless medications, maintaining healthy skin and hair can be difficult to say the least. I have always been passionate about beauty, skincare, and haircare, having worked in the industry, and so decided to help others find solutions to beauty concerns that may not be typical.
What products are made of is also extremely important to me, and while I am willing to try many different things, I think it is important to understand what is in the products you use. At the same time, I won't turn my nose up at something simply because it has a chemical in it, though what those chemicals are and the effects they have on my body are important to me and I generally prefer more natural products. I have also found natural products are much gentler on the skin AND tend to actually heal the skin VS covering up a problem and making your skin dependant on those chemically based skincare products.
Lastly, the most important thing about beauty, skincare, and hair care when you have a chronic illness, is to take care of your skin by cleansing, exfoliating, moisturising, and toning on a regular basis. The key to getting the most out of your beauty routine is to do it regularly, over time. The more you stay in a routine and really keep up with taking care of your skin and hair, the better it will look and the healthier it will be over all. With a chronic illness you have to be more religious about your routine because your body is lacking the natural nutrients that you are reintroducing with your beauty routine, even more so than a perfectly healthy person.
I hope this blog will be useful and help others feel beautiful even at our sickest, because everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident.
